WMPFC are through to the semi finals of the PSUK Police National Cup after thrashing the holders Essex Police 6-3 at Tally Ho.

WMPFC took the game toEssexfrom the first whistle and soon took a commanding 2-0 lead after just 9 minutes. The Essex back line were unable to handle the pace and trickery of Mark Bellingham, whose clever back heel on the edge of the box played in midfielder Rich Adams who coolly finished.Bellingham’s pace broke their back line time after time and he was able to grab a brace before the half time whistle.

Essex Police were penned back throughout the half and did not offer anything in way of an attacking option.

With the commanding 3-0 lead at the break,Essexrallied in the second half and pushed WMPFC with more attacking play. They soon pulled a goal back after a left wing cross found the unmarked right winger to slot home.

Bellinghamsoon restoredWest Midsthree goal advantage and completed his hat trick with more top level finishing.

Substitute Tom Thacker was able to add to his goal from the last round with a simple tap in andBellinghamrounded off his man of the match performance by adding a late fourth.

With the result in the bag WMPFC did switch off and gave Essex a more respectable score line when the scored from a corner and then a late penalty, after Dan Mroczkoswi wrestled theEssexforward to the ground in the box.

Keeper Stu Parker was again called into action and pulled off a magnificent save diving low down to his right to palm the ball away from a close rangeEssexeffort.

A strong and confident WMPFC squad are now into the semi finals and face an away tie against Kent Police, our first semi final in six years.
